A Breeze ChMS alternative for Catholic parishes
Breeze earned its following by being simple enough for a small church office to actually use. Bellringer takes the same position on ease of use and narrows the audience to Catholic parishes.
Where the difference shows up
General-purpose church management software has to stay generic. It gives you custom fields and lets you model your own sacraments, your own ministry structure, your own bulletin workflow. That flexibility is real, and so is the configuration work it pushes onto you.
Bellringer makes those decisions up front. Sacrament types, Mass intentions, parish census and household structure, ministry roles, and the weekly bulletin already exist as features with their own screens.
What a parish office gets on day one
- A searchable parishioner and household database with tags and notes
- Email and two-way SMS from the same record
- Groups and ministries with parishioner self-enrollment
- Sacrament history per parishioner
- Mass intention requests and a staff queue
- Giving, pledges, funds, and end-of-year statements
- Events, RSVPs, volunteer slots, and attendance
- A digital bulletin with an archive of past issues
Trying it without a sales call
Create a parish, import a CSV, and send yourself a message. The free plan needs no credit card, and pricing for the paid tiers is published on the home page.
What generic software asks you to build yourself
Any capable church platform can be made to track sacraments. You create a custom field for baptism, another for confirmation, decide how to record the parish where it took place, and settle on a convention everyone in the office agrees to follow.
That works, until the person who designed it leaves. Then the convention is undocumented, half the records follow it, and nobody is confident enough in the data to answer a question with it. Features that ship as features do not decay that way — the shape of the data is not a local decision someone has to remember.
Common questions
How long does setup take?
Creating a parish takes a few minutes. Importing an existing parishioner list from CSV is usually the longest step, and duplicate detection runs afterwards.
Does Bellringer work for a non-Catholic church?
It will run, but the vocabulary and several core features assume a Catholic parish. A general-purpose platform is the better fit.
